Aqueous parts washers aka parts cleaners are taking over the parts washing function in industry

Monday, March 15th, 2010

To meet environmental requirements or want to be green, if you have to remove oil, grease or plain dirt, the aqueous parts washer is the only tool. The choice of environmental friendly soaps is broad. Hot versus cold washing is like the washing machine at home. With the proper rinsing basket and good water flow around each part there is no need for ultrasound vibrations.

Many small metal parts or a few heavy metal pieces are hard to clean with ultrasound. However, a good basket design with an up and down motion by hand or a mechanical lever can have good water flow between the parts to strip off any foreign matter.

The more effective designs are the spray washers with the front or top load options. Here high pressure water spray cleans parts in a controlled environment. For high volume cleaning requirement the conveyor system can clean parts in a continuous line.

Machine vibration monitoring instruments and vibration sensors for early machine vibration detection.

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Machine vibration monitoring starts when the rotary sections of a machine or process are installed. Correct balancing of the rotary components is critical for proper operation. After that, the continuous monitoring at bearing points assures early warning of maintenance before there is machine breakdown.

A vibration sensor signal is fed to a vibration analyzer at the start of operation to establish the reference signal. (no perfect balancing condition are possible). Thereafter, monitoring the signal continuously or at scheduled intervals allows to compare the ongoing signals to the reference signal. Understanding the wear pattern and corresponding signal of a rotary point allows for early warning if a point needs maintenance. Setting warning points, either automatic or manual warning, a breakdown can be prevented. All this can be set up as a preventive or even predictive maintenance program.
